Betty Mack is the seventh child of nine born to Jackson and Laura Toliver. Betty grew up and attended school in Enid, Oklahoma at Booker T. Washington High School where she graduated with honors. She attended Langston University where she received her Certificate in Cosmetology.
In 1960, she met and married her husband Stewart Mack Jr of 55 years. They have three children Ronald, Romelda and Renee' Mack, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She Stated, "The grandchildren and great grandchildren are the joy of her life and she cherishes all the memories with them".
Her career has led her on a life journey of great excitement and fulfilment. She began her journey moving from Langston, Oklahoma to Oklahoma City, where she was employed at Highland Hills Beauty Salon for 31/2 years, but her goal was to open her own salon. This goal she accomplished having her first salon in 1969, MACK'S BEAUTY SALON. During her career, Betty was a National Technician for Le Conte Cosmetic where she traveled over the United States providing training, and presenting at Style Shows to promote the product line.
She was also the Co-Owner and Teacher at Loving & Mack's Beauty College. Her ultimate goal was to construct a new building designed with three phases, Beauty Salon, Boutique and Instructional Facility for youth and adults, which was accomplished and opened in June 2000.
She established her own business in the Northeast area of Oklahoma City. She has lived in the area for 50 years and held businesses. She always wants to remember how loyal her clients have been to her, and give back to the community.
After being a Business owner for over 35 years, she saw the necessity for youth to learn how to apply their academic study to real life experiences. She is currently the president of RKR Inc., a Non-profit (501 c3 status) organization where their mission is to provide an after school/summer Entrepreneurial and job skills training center, which focuses on self-worth developing, goal setting, financial and management planning.
RKR Inc. is collaborating with Promises Inc., Langston University 4 H Youth Development, Reach for the Light Inc., and Metro Technology Center's Business and Industry Department (Spring Lake Campus), Tinker Federal Credit Union, and New Harvest Church. After a student earns and distributes their funds, a portion is reserves for investing in the stock market.
